chocolate cherry babka
Our take on this traditional NY-style Jewish coffee cake with Eastern European roots. A sweet, swirly chocolate-layered loaf with chunks of chocolate, brandied cherries and cocoa nibs. You won't be able to decide if you want it for breakfast, lunch or dessert. We layer a brioche- rich dough with 70% chocolate, dutch-processed cocoa powder and butter. The bread is baked in a wooden basket, brushed with brandied simple syrup, dipped in butter and tucked into a muslin bag.
Each day during this holiday season we will hand-make our Babka using age-old preparation methods, in micro-batches of twenty loaves per bake; orders are taken on a first-come, first-served basis and we cannot guarantee shipping dates.
We will begin production on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.
